The Phillies placed set-up man Tom Gordon on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation.
The 40-year-old right-hander has struggled most of the season. Since June 11, Gordon has given up six earned runs on six hits in four innings, according to a story reported on Phillies.com.
Gordon's last outing was Saturday night when he issued a wild pitch that scored the tying run and gave up a two-run double that put the Mets in front.
The Phillies have called up left-hander R.J. Swindle from triple-A Lehigh Valley. Swindle had a cup of coffee with the Phillies last week, but did not play.
