Another Game, Another Loss? Maybe.

After jumping out to a 5-1 lead against Arizona, the Mets and D'Backs are now tied at 5, with the game in the top of the 7th, currently being suspended by wind. (A rain storm is imminent).

The game started like the road trip ended for the Mets, as Arizona got off to a 1-0 lead against John Maine in the 1st inning thanks to a Connor Jackson single. The Mets however, got the run right back plus two more in the bottom frame, as Carlos Delgado singled in Luis Castillo, who walked. Tonight's game marked the return of Moises Alou, who is back in the lineup after missing 18 games with a strained calf. In his first at-bat, Alou looked like he hadn't missed any time, as he singled in Carlos Beltran, who reached on an infield single, and Carlos Delgado. I swear if Alou got up on New Year's Day 10 years from now, and wanted to hit, I'm sure he could. The guy is amazing when healthy.

In the bottom of the 2nd, David Wright hit his 12 homer of the year, a 2 run homer that brought in Castillo who singled earlier in the inning. Wright's homer gave the Mets a 5-1 lead.

As I said in an earlier post, the Mets were facing probably the hitting pitcher in all of baseball in Micah Owings tonight. That was evident again, as he led of the 5th with a single to left. After 2 outs, up came Orlando Hudson, who hit an absolute shot for a guy of his size over the right field wall to cut the Mets lead to 5-3.

In the top of the 6th, John Maine was relieved by Claudio Vargas who has done a good job for the Mets so far in relief since Pedro Martinez returned to the rotation. Not tonight though. After a Mark Reynolds walk, and a Justin Upton hit-by-pitch, Augie Ojeda pitch hit for Juan Cruz who relieved Owings.

In case you are unaware, Ojeda killed the Mets earlier this year in Arizona while subbing for Orlando Hudson who was on the DL. If memory serves me correctly, he won 2 of the 4 games in the series for the D'Backs. Well, it might have not been in Arizona, but Ojeda continued to have his way with the Mets, as he singled in Reynolds and Upton to tie the score at 5.

As I said earlier, the Mets and D'Backs are now tied at 5 with the game being suspended by wind with a rain storm on its way. Will this be another loss for the Mets? We'll have to wait and see if Mother Nature cooperates, and lets them finish the game.
